Filmed
during the winter of 2002 - International Year of the Mountains
- two teams of UK climbers traveled to both South and North America
in a quest for mountain adventure.
Hauling
sleds they attempt to traverse the South Patagonian
Ice Cap to Estancia Christina near the Upsala Glacier. Experiencing
ferocious weather conditions they are forced to reassess their goals.
In
Colorado a number of ice routes are
climbed including The Rigid Designator
(WI-5) using a unique helmet mounted
camera - giving a climbers eye view of this famous route.
The
journey culminates in an 80 mile ski tour across the Rocky
Mountain Divide from Leadville to Crested Butte - climbing
the historic 12,705ft Pearl Pass.
A
different set of objectives and circumstances illustrate the contrasting
environments that exist in adjoining continents, in mountain ranges
separated by thousands of miles and many cultures.
This
documentary captures their ventures, struggle, disappointment -
and their ultimate success.
